What Is a Mini Air Hockey Table?

A mini air hockey table is a smaller version of the full-size air hockey tables that you see at the arcades. Where full-size air hockey tables measure 8 ft in length, mini air hockey tables measure around 40”, just under 3.5 ft.

The smaller size means they serve as great air hockey tables for kids, but even adults can have a lot of fun using them, provided they are not too rough.

Rating: 9.7

We kick off this list with the kid’s air hockey table by Best Choice Products. It sports an attractive design that is rather minimal. Many of the other tables we looked at were covered in graphics, so we can certainly appreciate a rare, more professional look.

This model measures 40” x 20” x 8.5” and weighs just 19 lbs, making it a very typical mini air hockey table in these categories. It also comes with 2 pucks and 2 pushers as you would expect.

To fuel the games, a strong 100V motor ejects 40 PSI of air pressure which is plenty for a small table. And don’t worry about running out of juice. The Best Choice Products mini air hockey table runs exclusively on mains power, so you’ll never be scrambling for batteries.

In our opinion, this is the best mini air hockey table on the market right now. It runs beautifully, is built well, and is sold by a reputable seller. No wonder it’s the best-selling table!

2. Mainstreet Classics 22-Inch Table Top Air Hockey Game — Most Portable

Specifications

  • Weight: 5 lbs
  • Scorer: Manual
  • Included accessories: 2 strikers and 2 pucks
  • Warranty: 30-day warranty

Pros

  • Inexpensive
  • Very small
  • Very lightweight
  • Features a motor
  • Attractive design

Cons

  • No legs
  • Runs on batteries
  • Small playfield means a less exciting experience

Rating: 9

If having a space-saving table is your primary concern, the Mainstreet Classics air hockey table is a solid option. With a play surface of 22” x 12.5” it’s small by mini air hockey table standards — it’s almost half the size of most models! As a result, the Mainstreet Classics table is very lightweight at just 5 lbs. This means it’s a level above the rest regarding portability and storage.

However, its small size does negatively impact the air hockey experience. The playfield is simply very small, and so are the accessories. So while it’s one of the best air hockey tables for kids, we don’t recommend this one for adults. You’re better off choosing another model.

Besides the incredible portability and storage of the Mainstreet Classics air hockey table, it also excels in price. At around a third of the cost of the other tables, it certainly represents good value. Sure it’s not the most exciting to use and runs on batteries, but it does look better than most and features air power which is a little unexpected for such a tiny air hockey table.

3. Hathaway Rapid Fire 42-In 3-In-1 Air Hockey Multi-Game Table — Best Tall Table

mini air hockey table

Specifications

  • Size: 42” x 20” x 28”
  • Weight: 27.5 lbs
  • Scorer: Manual and digital
  • Included accessories: 2 strikers, 2 pucks, 2 hockey balls, 2 hockey sticks, soft ball
  • Warranty: 180-day warranty

Pros

  • Features 110V motor
  • 3 fun games to play
  • Highly portable
  • Dual scoring methods

Cons

  • Tacky appearance
  • Comparatively poor portability

Rating: 9.2

If you want a mini air hockey game with full-size legs, the Hathaway Rapid Fire is a table you should consider. At a height of 28”, this table is perfectly elevated for air hockey games. It also features leg levelers so that you can be certain that you will always have a level playing surface.

Of course, the limitation is that while this table is more portable than full-size models, it pales compared to the tabletop versions. The legs are not designed to be removable, so you can’t store the Hathaway Rapid Fire under a bed or in a cupboard like you can with the tabletop tables.

While this is true, the Rapid Fire is certainly still a small air hockey table. It’s only the legs that really hinder its storage ability. The play surface measures 42” x 20”, approximately the same as the other mini air hockey tables on this list.

What distinguishes this model from the rest is its versatility: it only features multiple games. With the Rapid Fire, you can play soccer and hockey on top of air hockey, and all necessary accessories are included. That’s more fun for you and the rest of the family.

On top of this, it features dual scoring, which is a plus. Choose your preference between electronic or manual scoring. The manual scoring is hard to read from a distance as it uses a dial rather than an abacus score. Therefore we instead recommend using the digital counter. Just know that this runs on batteries, so you’ll need to keep it well-stocked.

4. EastPoint Sports Air Hockey Table Top

mini air hockey table

Specifications

  • Size: 40” x 20” x 6”
  • Weight: 16 lbs
  • Scorer: Manual
  • Included accessories: 2 strikers and 2 pucks
  • Warranty: 90-day warranty

Pros

  • Quick setup
  • Features a motor
  • Highly portable
  • Extra pushers and pucks are available separately
  • Runs off of mains power

Cons

  • Logos on the side give a tacky appearance
  • Ideally, you need a table to place it on

Rating: 9.2

As the final air hockey table of mini size, we have a tabletop model by EastPoint Sports. It measures 40” x 20” x 6”, meaning it has the same length and width as the Best Choice Products table, and its height is 2.5” shorter.

Its weight of 16 lb also places between the aforementioned tables. As such, the overall gameplay is similar, given that it features a blower. Portability levels are comparable as well. One thing to like about this model is that EastPoint Sports sells additional pucks and pushers separately.

Too often we hear customers complain about needing extra accessories that are not offered, forcing them to look to other brands, which may cause compatibility issues. So know that if you choose to purchase this table, there is always the option to buy extra pucks or pushers should the need ever arise.

Our only problem with this mini air hockey table is its appearance. EastPoint Sports plastered various logos across the side of the table, which we are not a fan of. It makes it look rather tacky. As a result, we think it’s one of the weakest tables on this list regarding aesthetics.

Mini Air Hockey Table Buyer’s Guide

Purchasing a high-quality mini-ice hockey table is a quality investment as it provides hours of fun for the family. While full-size models are the most enjoyable to play on, their large size means they are not feasible for many households.

Quality small air hockey tables, on the other hand, feature powerful blowers for fast games and are small enough to fit into your home. They are also often easy to carry around and you can store them out of the way when you have concluded playing.

Size

The first thing to consider when shopping around for the best tabletop air hockey table is the size. Most small air hockey tables have similar dimensions of around 40” x 20” x 6”, which should be plenty small enough for you to find temporary room to field your games. It’s more so the models with full-size legs that you should take some time to consider whether they are right for you.

While these tables are less portable, you’ll likely need a permanent space for them, they have the advantage of not requiring you to play on the floor or at another table. They often have slightly larger playing field areas too, making them more enjoyable to use.

Portability

One of the golden qualities of the best small air hockey tables is their portable nature. As they are small and lightweight, you can easily move them around the house, store them in a cupboard, or even transport them to another location.

Most of the tabletop air hockey tables are very similar on the portability front, it’s the models with full-size lengths that suffer here. Their legs are not detachable or foldable so your options are limited.

Blowers

Any quality air hockey table has blowers to fuel gameplay. Even mini hockey tables. If you purchase a model that doesn’t have air power, the pucks will frequently become stuck and it is very frustrating. As such, we can’t recommend these models. Every table on our list uses air power.

Warranty

Since mini air hockey tables are much less costly than regular-sized ones, they often feature shorter warranty periods. That being said, there are still some tables with alluring warranty periods of 1 year. For the best tables, around 90 days seems to be typical.

FAQs

Does It Take Long to Assemble a Mini Air Hockey Table?

Assembling a mini air hockey table usually takes around 5 minutes and is very straightforward. That being said, models with full-size legs, such as the Hathaway Rapid Fire Air Hockey Multi-Game Table will take notably longer. We estimate 15-30 minutes for such tables.

Do They Require Electricity?

Any mini air hockey table that features blowers requires electricity. Some will run on batteries, but most will run on mains power. Mains power is certainly superior as it is more cost-effective and you won’t find yourself constantly running out of batteries.

Are Mini Tables Strictly for Kids?

Mini tables are primarily advertised as air hockey for kids. However, adults can still have fun playing on them too. Just remember that they are very lightweight and so are prone to budging. If you are a bit heavy-handed when you play, we recommend that you instead purchase a full-size version.

Conclusion

Mini air hockey tables are great alternatives to full-size models. They are much cheaper and far more portable — perfect for buyers who don’t want their air hockey table to serve as a permanent feature in their home.

While we liked all four of the tables we studied, the Best Choice Products 40-inch portable air hockey table impressed us the most. This mini hockey table is killing it on Amazon, and it’s easy to see why. Its powerful motor, attractive design, and robust build make it cut above most other mini air hockey tables.
